Event 3 represented a relatively stable plugin, with few changes made in the time since Event 2.
One change was to player names. Names became the combination of two words randomly allocated, Soft_Soul and Withered_Horizon being two examples.
A contracted playerbase supported three distinct worlds, each with a jungle spawn and shaped by bodies of water.
The layout and design of settlements progressed with many nations favoring ground bases. They tore down their early skybases or incorporated them into towers. There was also a focus on consistent cityplanning, alongside aesthetic structures, even for those bases which remained in the sky.
Information about the event was entirely stored and conveyed in-game: nations relied on diplomats and other travellers to deliver world news. Deception and mistakes often twisted facts into fiction. World One had the confusion of false flag attacks; players switching allegiances; and three similarly named settlements: Venice, Vegas, and Venus. Meanwhile, World Two had coups and power grabs, both successful and otherwise; and World Three had two-faced diplomats encouraging wars between nations, resulting in a string of raids.
The threat of other players remained ever-present. Some acted alone, or in small groups, as arsonists or raiders. Increasingly, however, players of different playstyles were integrating and mixing within settlements, trying to exert their personal goals through them. In the case of those favoring combat, they would encourage raids or war.
The first half of the event saw each world follow the patterns of previous events and maintain the illusion of world order. The second half of the event presented a test which threatened each.
In World One, Venice led a raid on Cherrytop, then travelled through the Nether to Ironport. Their arrival forewarned, the army was trapped in the portal and killed.
In World Two, guardsmen from Craftopia, and then Polaris, defied leadership to lead raids on other settlements. The subsequent conflict was in the form of a war between Kannada and Polaris, successfully maintaining world order and facilitating a second CivLabs Olympic Games.
In World Three, a UN meeting was cut short when a raider blew up the delegates, then led an attack on Halter, the biggest nation. This prompted other combat leaning players to peel away from their settlements and join the growing raiding party. The illusion of order was shattered, as a wave of destruction washed across the world.
Although two worlds managed to maintain order, Event 3 World 3 demonstrated the alternative path, a pattern raiders would aim to replicate in future events.
> HIGHLIGHTS
Session 2
Mineobyl Disaster in Vegas
Hostile Mobs gathered in the mines below Vegas and overran helpless miners, before surging onto the streets above. Few miners survived, and the old mines were closed.
Session 3
Blessed Watermelon Incident
Venus attacked Venice (aka Cookie Island) for stealing Blessed Watermelons, based on incorrect evidence. In the aftermath Venus was criticised, and a splinter group left to form Slate.
Session 9
Slate’s clean slate is Broken
The settlement, led by Timeless_Slumber, attempted to rebrand after the Blessed Watermelon Incident. It was raided by allies of Venice, in part due to the past crimes.
Session 14
Ironport portal-traps Army
An army, led by Venice leader Serene_Breeze, attacked Cherrytop. It then used nether roads to reach Ironport. Ironport was forewarned, and defeated the army as they came through the portal.
Session 5
Kannada Leadership Crisis
Soft_Soul was killed and exiled by an opposed faction within the settlement, mirroring how Soft_Soul himself took power. However, the populace sided with him as leader, and the rebels were forced to leave.
Session 10
Lacus becomes a Queendom
Golden_Dream, the leader of sky-city Lacus, dissolved the military and stepped down. Librarian Speckled_Sunset won the subsequent election and became Queen of the Queendom of Lacus.
Session 11
UN Meeting Day ends in Anarchy
With their leadership away, tensions escalated between Craftopia and Decalon over the latter's association with arsonist Molten_Dawn. Resulted in a deadly raid on Decalon after more buildings in Craftopia were burned.
Session 11
Bombing of Polaris
Lit TNT was dropped onto the roof of the Polaris meeting hall, interrupting a speech by Decalon diplomat Enchanted_Heart about the earlier raid. The map wall was defaced, and phantoms attacked the wounded. The bomber escaped.
Session 14
Polaris-Kannada War
Polaroid Dappled_Lumina asserted power with martial law, then led a pre-emptive assault on Kannada through the Nether. The Kannadian led alliance routed the attack, then pushed back to successfully take and demilitarize Polaris.
Session 18
World 2 Olympics held in Kannada
Builders world-wide converged to build a stadium and arenas for the Olympics. There were security measures in place, and ultimately no major disruption.
Session 2
The End of Atlantis
The early-stage island settlement was washed out by iron-geared Sleepy_Eclipse. Many refugees went to Halter, who later launched an ill-received raid to destroy Kelp City for harboring the terrorist.
Session 7
The Culling of Nullite
Terrorist sightings in Nullite angered Halter, and Something Isle offered to join them in a raid. Halter backed out when Nullite leadership discovered the plans, but Something Isle attacked anyway in a quick culling of the Nullite populace.
Session 9
The Burning of Something Isle
In retaliation for the culling, the Nullite army sailed to the island settlement to kill those responsible. In the ensuing chaos, many innocent citizens would fall, and destructive fires started.
Session 12
Olympics Meeting ends with a Flash
Diplomats, leaders, and citizens gathered in Nullite to plan the Olympics, which aimed to de-escalate tensions. This ideal was shattered when Hazy_Flash used a respawn anchor to bomb a group photo of the delegates.
Session 13
Crimson Shroud envelopes the World
Hazy_Flash discarded former allegiance and formed a crew with allies; at the time nameless, they would later be called Crimson Shroud. The squad travelled the world, grew in number, and brought destruction to all: Halter, Nullite, SugarNuts, City of Angels, and Tower Valley.
